I'll see your Chris Brown

This one is pretty good too based on the evolution of dance.

Wedding Dances

By now I think everyone has seen the Minnesota wedding dance entrance Chris Brown's Forever.

Before I continue I am admitting I enjoy this video, love the song, and have watched it many times. I would LOVE to have been at their reception. The dude walking on his hands killed it without mentioning he opens with the Deon Sanders and the first two brides maid can hit it and quit. Kudos to the girl who is clearly holding back her best moves for her date with no soul.

Call me a traditionalist, but I do not think this belongs in a church. You can't have it both ways and if you are thinking about doing this find one of those all inclusive places to have your big day instead of "discovering" the Catholic church will not let your wedding party enter to Lady GaGa.

And good luck to wedding planners for the next two years trying to deal with clients who create their own version of this concept.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Quick thoughts on the 6th edition of the Harry Potter series.

  • Lots of awkward teen moments and a handful of risque scenes
  • The Oscar goes to Jessie Cave(who plays Lavender Brown) for nailing the role of the crazy, obsessive chick
  • The title is completely ignored aside from a throwaway scene at the end
  • My only disappointment would be the elimination of most of the Tom Riddle pensieve scenes and no explanation of the vanishing cabinet.
  • Check that. The end of the movie should have been a significant battle scene including a key fight between Bill Weasley and Fenrir Greyback
  • A must see for the fans of the series although it's getting harder to remember the storyline without a refresher

Socially Exhausted

Sorry folks, I can't do it.

Something is burning inside me and I can't pull the trigger on Facebook. Maybe it's because I enjoy being a misanthrope. Originally, as a non-college student I could not see any practical use for it and then it exploded with everyone under the sun telling me I had to join. All contemplation ended when people in their 50's started using it for dating purposes

"You can find out where all your old middle school friends are." I guess, and I hope they're doing well, but frankly I don't have an interest beyond that. Instead of posting on their wall I would rather use that time to update espn.com for the 10th time this hour

The best use I can now think of for Facebook would be to join and constantly adjust my relationship status to mess with people.

Ok, I lied. I have registered for linkedin although I haven't figured out why it's useful yet beyond asking people if they have an account yet.

I think I may have wasted 10 minutes disagreeing with myself

We're Back

I think

Since we last existed on the blogosphere we moved, bought a car, started waking up before 6:00 in the morning and discovered getting rid of bats is very expensive.

I also decided to join the rest of the world and get a cell phone.

Fast Food Nation

We watched Fast Food Nation over the weekend and while I enjoyed the movie, the more I thought about the less sense I made of it. You basicly have three separate stories going on within the same film that kind of, but don't really coincide and they may have been better off producing two fims as opposed to one.

The main storylines involve a quality control inspector(Gren Kinnear) for Mickey's, a fast food chain, investigating a meat packing plant, an illegal immigrant worker(Wilmer Valderamma) at the plant, and a teenage cashier(a girl who could have been Ashley from Growing Pains) at Mickey's who thinks she can make a difference.

The movie ended abruptly and while I don't need happy endings, I could have used a little more closure as to what happened to all the characters.

And the winner is...

Last summer, the Mohito was all the rage. Any ideas what this July's drink success story will be?

NBA Fever-Shoot It

There have quietly been quality NBA playoff games over the past few weeks although most of them have been played after 10:30.

Check out the Suns-Spurs and Jazz-Warriors for some intense, up tempo basketball

Matsuzakad

Dice-K finally did something with his 5 hit complete game shut out of the Detroit Tigers.

I hate to be cynical, but this guy is no Pedro who dominated teams in his first year with the team. There was nothing like sitting in the bleachers and watching him eat Mo Vaughn for lunch.

Now don't get me wrong, I don't think our favorite Japanese import is a bust by any means, but he has a long way to go before I'm doing cartwheels

Monster Mash

The other night I ran to the local Shaws to buy dough for grilled pizza. It's very easy and you should give it a chance.

Anway, while I am in the store about 100 bloodied college age students walk by the store posing on zombies for a movie. Everyone received a high kick out of it including the manager who I coincidently I needed to ask a question just after the razing occured.

That is except for one person who reminded me of a 45 year old George Costanza who entered the store while I was being checked out to yell at everyone that he needed to see the manager. One of the baggers asked him what the problem was and he proceeded to call her "a douchebag" and to explain he was very upset because the creatures of the night were invading a private parking lot. He then announced he was having a bad day and stormed back out to his car.

So the question of the day is: Can you imagine having to work with this guy? Or better yet, being related to him? Sometimes I just don't get where some people come from...

The Ex

Summer Movie excitement continues thie Friday with The Ex starring Zach Braff, Amanda Peet, and Jason Bateman. Click above for the trailer

Lost: R.I.P 2010

In case you haven't heard, Lost will be ending in 2010 after three 16 episode season that will air without interruption. I don't approve of this plan and would like to see two 24 episode seasons instead because this Sopranosesque experimentation did not work this season with Lost, Heroes, or Veronica Mars. And I never went back to Jericho after their 3 month hiatus. The breaks proved to be distracting especially with other new programming still available and I found it very difficult to get jumpstarted again. Of course I'll watch, but I don't have to like it.

I'm also annoyed that V. Mars is now back on the fast forward 5 years to the F.B.I. idea because it's going to be a totally different show although I can still be happy with pop culture references from the future

If You Can't Beat 'Em..Write a Comic

I've just finished Issue 3 of Season Eight of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Let me explain. Joss Whedon, the creator of Buffy didn't really want the show to end in 2003, but star Sarah Michelle Gellar opted not to sign a new contract. Whedon dabbled in a few other projects(including an X-Men comic book) before finally deciding to continue the Buffy universe in the comic world which appeals to me because it isn't some knock off. We're talking authentic stories from the master of the mythology.

My quick recap goes like this: The story takes place a few months after the end of Season 7 with a few armies of slayers scattered around the world led by the Scoobies although Willow is missing and Dawn is now a giant. The government views them all as terrorist cells and enlists a few familiar baddies(no spoilers here) to take them out over a four issue story arc. Issue one is great, part two falls down with a confusing plot twist, and the third edition comes on strong in the second half with a surprise in the final panel.

It may be hard to find, but this is a must read for even the casual fan.

How Lindsey Got Her Groove Back

A few months ago, Lindsey Lohan received his letter after repeatedly "calling in sick" while filming Georgia Rule. I enjoy this story because it's completely devoid of any of the PR politically correct garbage you usually see in these situations. No excuses are being made. Morgan Creek CEO knows Lindsey's been out partying with the Hilton clique, calls her out, and threatens to sue her for everything she's worth. She gets the message and the movie gets made.

Fast forward to this weekend. Less than one before the film arrives in theatres, Lohan allows herself to get caught on camera snorting cheese in a bathroom stall. That's great PR for the film, now isn't it?

This could get more legs as our red haired hero claims the video has been doctored to show her handling the Columbian snow

Good one

Send her to the Guillotine

Paris Hilton is going jail...for the moment. After getting arrested for drunk driving, everyone's favorite hotel heiress loses her license yet continues to drive. She's pulled over and signs a document acknowledging she understands her license has been suspended, but apparently all those skills God gave her for extensive flirting came at the cost of reading comprehension. Paris is then pulled over AGAIN and now we have a problem. The judge described her actions as a blatant disregard for the law and she's off to the big house in early June with no opportunity for work release or home arrest.

Most importantly, my very first television concept, Woman's Prison Guard(WPG) now appears to be very close to reality.

And they Call Her Veronica

In addition to Scrubs, one of the best shows on TV no one(besides Nick and I) is watching is The CW's Veronica Mars about a sassy college aged PI. The story lines and pop culture dialogue makes for an entertaining hour each Tuesday at nine with highlights being interactions with her father, Keith Mars( Elliot from Just Shoot Me), and on again off again on again currently off again boyfriend Logan Eckels.

The show just returned from a 6 week break and has dropped the extended storyline format which can be confusing to new viewers in favor of single episode plots. In order to attempt to prevent it's cancellation the creator of the show, Rob Thomas, shot an episode set five years in the future with Veronica working for the FBI. Granted, One Tree Hill floated this idea first, but the more intriguing aspect for me would be if they were going to make pop culture references from the future. Think about it...

Catch up on seasons 1 and 2 on DVD or watch this season here

Summer Movie Season Begins

The summer movie season has officially begun with the release of Spiderman 3 on Friday. Has anyone seen it yet? The story presented has some good life to it and has definite potential to spawn another sequel.

There are no less than nine sequels being released this summer in addition to several comedies and the much anticipated Transformers and The Simpson's movies. This much different than last year when aside from Pirates there was little to make me excited.

What are you looking forward to this summer?

Zach Attack

One of our favorite shows is Scrubs. A quirky, good natured show that's a comedy while still mixing in some drama. We always feel this show slips under the radar as very few people seem to watch it regularly yet everyone enjoys it when they catch an episode. This is a great show to watch on DVD because most of the episodes feature top notch writing.

Think you're a Zach Braff's number one fan? Think again..Watch Video
